Henry was the seventh child of Neal and Durkie Van Soelen.
He was born, July 13, 1934 In Jasper County, Iowa and was one
of their "special" children: Henry was afflicted with the disease of Epilepsy. He attended the Sully Christian School when able. Henry also helped his parents with chores and different tasks at home. In 1970 Henry became a resident of the Jasper County Home. He helped work in the farm's dairy for several years, and later worked in the home's concession stand. Henry died March 12, 1977 at the age of 42 years. He is buried in the Sully Cemetery.
Henry's favorite Bible passage was Psalm 121.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made the heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
